Education & Programs

Where Kids Come First: The Learning Center (TLC) of Hopkinton was founded in 2000 by Tricia Miller. Tricia is an EEC certified Director has a BS in Education & 27 years experience in the field. Today, she has her former students working with her. Each staff member is EEC certified and/or possess degrees in Early Education and trained in CPR, first aid and professional development on a monthly basis that exceeds EEC licensing standards.

With safety as our number one priority, we maintain child-to-teacher ratios lower than those required by law. We also practice health and safety procedures to ensure a safe and wholesome environment.

The TLC facility includes state-of-the-art classrooms, a kitchen, separate fenced playgrounds for each age-group, an area for scooter and bike use and a newly designed space used for enrichment activities including: karate with Villari's studio, yoga, music with Gerry, Compuchild and Tumblebus. The space is also equipped with a big screen TV and surround sound for a rainy day movie. The center also provides career development workshops to keep parents current with the latest techniques in quality child care.

Infant Program – Little Tykes

Ages 3 months - 15 months
Full time only

The Infant program is designed for our youngest age group to interact, explore, and discover their world in a safe, loving, and nurturing environment that will assist them in achieving their first milestones. The educators in the infant classroom specialize in love, which means working closely with every parent in order to know and understand the needs of each child. Curriculum is
supported by age appropriate sensory materials, assisting and fostering motor development and gradual introduction to the limitless world of capabilities.

We call our infant classroom the "Little Tykes" and support family interactions in every way possible. The Learning Center has an open door policy in all classrooms. Parents are encouraged to call at any time during the day to connect directly with your classroom educators.

Wrap-Around Kindergarten Program
Half day and full day wrap-around programs available
* Reserve early for this program!

Our Kindergarten wrap-around program is the most popular program, designed with the first year student in mind. Hopkinton Public schools offer some half day programs with a schedule switch for every child halfway through the school year.

If your child is in half-day kindergarten, they will be enriched with the preschool program. If your child is in full-day kindergarten, they will be placed in the Clubhouse program.

Your child slot is reserved for the exclusively for full day use when needed for holidays, school vacations and summer. The program is designed by meeting your child's interests and needs through theme related curriculum and stimulating comfortable environment where learning is fun and creativity is the rule.

The children engage in a multiple of learning centers involving math, science, creative writing, art, and dramatic play. These centers are explored at the child’s own pace and reinforce the skills they are learning in elementary school. Our goal is to help these students make a smooth transition into their academic future.

Clubhouse School Age Program
6 years - 12 years
Full time only

One of the most popular programs is our Clubhouse - It is the place to be before and after school. Each day, our planned curriculum offers the social activities and daily challenges that interests school age children. Not only are they doing their homework before play, but their needs are cared for in a safe and caring environment.

The children read, complete homework (with assistance from team teachers as needed), and learn from each other. Homework contacts are read and signed by child and parent to insure satisfactory completion of the public school requirements. Early release and non-school days provide us with time to explore the interests of the children with hands on activities and culminating field trips for a well-rounded curriculum.

Don't just take our word for it.

What other parents are saying:

Dear Trish and the Awesome Staff at TLC ~ Thanks for another great summer! Dennis and Greta had a blast and as usual your program was jam-packed with activities. The kids came home happy, healthy and full of things to share with me! I think it has been 5 years that the kids have been at TLC and I feel like we are part of your family. Dennis and Greta have learned unbelievable social skills and have grown into mature, independent children under your care. Safety is an obvious top priority at the Center and I never worry about the safety of my kids when they are at TLC. TLC is like a second home to the kids and I greatly appreciate the extra effort to make the kids feel comfortable. You go above and beyond to make TLC a special place and I cannot thank you enough for the love, care and support you provide for us.

Sincerely, Lisa F.

Dearest Trish and the TLC Family ~  When I was getting ready to have my first son, I read up on daycare research and the key takeaway for me from the literature was that it was important that children felt that whatever the care arrangement, that it is just an extension of their family. I took this to heart and have always sought an environment for my 3 children that was just that, an extension of our family. TLC fit the bill from every angle as an extension of the family, beginning with Trish, (who can only be thought of as the best Aunt in the world!) all the way down the chain of command. The staff genuinely cares for each other as individuals and that feeling of family permeates into all that they do with the kids and families…

Lisa was literally Rachael’s “other mother” (I daresay second but rather a peer to myself!) and Lisa continues to hold the standard of all that is “soft and smells good” for her! Melissa, Gloria and Stephanie all mothered Kevin in turn and never once complained about that stinky “lovey” blanket (even as it deteriorated over the years!) Even with our oldest, Michael, who was only going to join field trips during the summer, I knew that I need not have a moment’s worry when Christine took Michael under her wing from the first field trip when he was just new to Hopkinton and I will never forget the love in her eyes and embrace!

For our 6 years in Hopkinton, Trish was so supportive of our unique family needs and even welcomed Michael (at 13!) to join his brother and sister on field trips while we were in temp housing preparing to move. She and her staff were always there in whatever capacity we needed them! I love the members of the TLC family as my own and have always gotten the same love in return. We have moved around and I’ve had my kids in different kinds of centers (from the posh ones with uniforms to someone’s own home) and TLC ranks the highest on my list!

Thank you, TLC for making a place for our children in your family for 6 years—we miss you in Minnesota!
